Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that concentrates on irrational thoughts and maladaptive behaviors that effect the way we think, feel, and behave. CBT is highly effective and clients often report a shift in perspective and feeling hopeful only after a few sessions. Homework is given each week based on what was discussed in the session. The purpose of the assignment is to help continue working on your goals in treatment when you are not in session. The more you challenge irrational thoughts and change behaviors, the easier it gets and the better you feel!
Currently, I am not in network with any insurance companies. I do provide receipts for you to submit to your insurance company if you have out of network benefits and would be happy to answer any questions to help you receive reimbursement.
If you are unable to leave your home, home visits are a possible solution. Field visits are when the session is conducted in an enviornment that exposes the client to the issue that is being addressed. Some examples include: flying, heights, driving, subways, claustrophobia, germs, etc. In these cases, we create a hierarchy list of exposures and work at a pace you feel comfortable with.
Finding a therapist that can best help you achieve your goals and that you feel comfortable with is most important. Because there are so many to choose from, I find that having an initial free phone consultation is extremely helpful. This gives you a chance to ask all of your questions and to see if I am the best therapist to help you. If I am not the best fit for you, I will do everything I can to help guide you towards the best professional for your needs.
My clients often report feeling optimistic and recognizing a change in the way they feel as soon as the first session. Each client has different goals and needs and I will work with you to help you start feeling better from the first session.
